i,m about ready to start working on loads for my #1 in 35 whelen, i have 5 boxs of rem 200gr loaded ammo and 10 boxs of once fired. has any one worked up any good hunting loads for the whelen? main use will be for northeastern deer and black bear. eastbank.

Eastbank, you might try the Lyman 49th Edition Reloading manual, they've got quite a few recipes for the 200 grain in the .35 Whelen cartridge. As I'm sure you're aware every rifle has it's preferences as to the load that is most effective for deer and bear.

eastbank the 49th Edition show loads for the 225 grain Barnes bullet (TSX), in those velocities your looking for. If I knew how to paste I'd do it for ya. Give me an idea of the powders you have on hand and I'll print what the book says.
