While using Tetra Gun Degreaser Action Blaster on my disassembled 10/22 Takedown I found that it dissolved the clear coating (that I didn't know was there) on the receiver. Is this a problem? The instruction manual doesn't mention a clear coating and doesn't say anything about cleaning products that should or should not be used. Is the clear coating also on the barrel?

I know there's been discussion on this in the past. The receivers have to be coated somehow to prevent corrosion, etc. (aluminum can corrode)

Happened to me with gun blast also. I just removed it all with gun blast seems fine a few months later some people polish and wax them to a high luster. I have no coating on my SS barrel.

I believe the receiver's are clear or black powder coated and barrels are either blued steel or uncoated stainless steel.
