Wow. There just can't be a good ending to this. Even if he was "in the right" you know mom is gonna be in deep trouble for having the gun where an 11 year old could get to it. And if the 11 year old could get it, odds are pretty good the 4 year old could too.

The latest reports ar saying that the house had been burglarized (or had burglary attempts made) twice in the past and that Mom got the gun after the last attempt. Still, leaving an 11 and 4 year old alone in the house is questionable enough; leaving them with access to a gun is even worse.

It sounds like a "righteous shoot"; the corpse had broken into the house (before becoming a corpse) and the 11 year old had every reason to fear for his life. Even if it wasn't legal self-defense, the 11 year old can plead diminished capacity due to his age.

Absolutely Outstanding Young Man

If the President and Governor don't congratulate this young man, they are a POS!

It makes me so upset that the media is more concerned about how an 11 year old had access to a gun than the fact he was witness to a break in and had to defend himself and his sibling. If he did not have access imagine how much worse it could have turned out.

Dunno what the truth is in this case but there have been reports that the 11 yr old and the 16 yr old had some sort of interaction on the porch and there was no break in attempt going on.
The reports of previous attempts at break in are confusing to me, the way they are written it does not seem clear if they were prior occasions or if it was multiple repeated attempts all effectively at the same time one one the same day. Of course that contradicts the reports of the two of them interacting outside the house.
