The question is: With the same optic, other than round velocity, is there any advantage to a rifle vs pistol of the same caliber?
I would be squirrel hunting with either, using a red dot.

The rifle has a stock that is secured against the shoulder, making accurate shots much easier. Accuracy wise, in my experience, a Mark pistol with a scope is extremely accurate. Rested, I can shoot groups as tight as my 10/22 at 25 yards. In the squirrel woods, the 10/22 rules against the 22/45.
