I just bought a Smith & Wesson Black Ops knife and its made with 4034 stainless. Never heard of it before but I noticed that alot of other knife companys (Boker Shrade and several others) are using this steel. Anyone know anything about this stuff?
Its a European lower alloy composition stainless steel . It is similar to 420 stainless which in blade steel falls in the lower "quality" end. It isn't as good as 440, 154, skandvik,or s30v. It would be fine for a general use pocket knife it just can't claim higher end stainless prestige . Hope this helps.
