I'm buying a gun to re-barrel and I need info to understand tolerances on fore stock. Can anyone tell the barrel diameter or the .450 Bushmaster?
It looks smaller than the varmint barrel profile.

A little more info on the type of gun you are buying to re barrel would help.
Ok, I'm buying a stainless steel/laminate No.1 for a project. I'm wanting a .308 or 7mm/08 but since that gun is virtually (if not impossible) to find I'm going to replace the barrel of a new gun.
One gun is a .450 Bushmaster. I'm also looking at a varmint barreled NOS ,22-.250 but I believe that a lighter (smaller profile) barrel is going to require some work to make the fore grip look correct. The .450 looks like it might have a slightly slimmer profile as is uses the traditional Ruger quarter rib and the varmint barrel has front and rear scope bases.
