I have the above rifle that has a muzzle brake. I checked with Ruger and it was not factory installed per their records. Problem is that the owner did not have the thread protector for use when muzzle brake is not wanted. Any suggestions on where I could get one or have one made? Thx

First step is to figure out your thread pitch. Once you have that, just need to find a thread protector with the matching pitch. If you search brownells, midway, and I am sure every other gun part site, you will find a bunch of options. Or you can just go with a nut from the hardware store.

As it is aftermarket, first hand figuring is the best way. Take your brake in to just about any hardware store and go from there.

Amazon has tons of thread protectors. You just need the diameter and pitch. Priced from $7 and up.
