Yes a nice gun but, seems a bit high to me.

It is high for a third generation. You can order a new one from Colt for under $1,700. If it was a second generation, it would be fair price. If it was a first generation, it would be way low.

"Appears unfired" always strike me as weasel words when it comes to online auctions. And I always stay away from listings that contain weasel words.

Most fun owners realise that the manufacturer test fires each gun they make (at least the reputable ones).
When they claim the firearm has never been shot, that means after it left the manufacturer.
That said, I too avoid never fired firearms. To me firearms are tools to be used. I only have one pistol I have never fired, it's an original 1860 Colt Army 44 caliber. I'm sure it was fired many times since in was made in 1866.
