Some of us have either never reloaded or don't anymore-but like to shoot a lot-share your sources for affordable factory ammo other than Wally World, if you will, and especially if you know where we can get military .45 hardball for $5 a 50-roundbox, like when I started shooting!!!! Thanks!!

Sheepdog I roll my own at about $6.00 a box of .45s. I buy all my supplies off Space Coast Bullets in Melbourne, Florida. I use range brass and shoot it till it splits. $17 bucks for a brick of primers, and bullet run about $20.50 for 500. I go through a couple of hundred rounds a week, on a slow week. Wally world here is $21.00 a hundred.

I really enjoyed reloading in the 70's-worked nights and loaded 100 rds. almost every day-my beat was on the fringes of town and lots of water/snakes/turtles to practice on-fired about 100 rounds nightly and loved the results. Now, I work too much and have a houseful of boys-someday I may have room enough to set up again-most relaxing thing I ever found as a hobby. Shooting that much had it's benefit, too.

It is true that you can buy 9mm, .45 ACP, and .223 almost as cheap as you can reload them. However, I have not found JHP in the pistol ammo, or SP in the rifle ammo cheap at all. I shoot nothing but HPs in my pistols, so I reload them, and nothing but SPs in the .223, so I reload it too. Not to mention I just enjoy reloading my own.

I would reload if the cost was the same. Something about reloading that is like shooting. It gets into your blood. For rifle hunting or competition the reloads more accurate.

Ammo and reloading components are taking a jump in price. I went to the local Wal-Mart and bought a couple cases of .22's and a case of .38's since I don't reload it. Think I'll buy a couple more cases of .22's before they go up. Wal-Mart hadn't raised theirs yet. The price of lead, zinc, Copper, and other metals have had a big price increase.

Just got back into shooting .22s after a long absense, so have been stocking up on .22 shells. Bought a whole bunch of bullets for reloading last week so we're in pretty good shape here. Checked on a 50 foot box of 10-2 Romex with ground today--- 57 dollars. Sticker shock again. The price of metal is going up and home builders around this area are having thieves stealing copper wire right out of the walls of buildings under construction. Just makes sense that reloading components will go up too.

Calvin, Just curious, did Walmart give you a discount for taking a complete case?? Or did you have to pay the shelf price? [?] Thanks!

Ruger Packer, I had to pay shelf price, but the bulk-pack is cheaper than the box price. They cost 8.96 for 550 Federal hollow Points.
Calvin, I kinda figured they charged you shelf price. Just for the heck of it, I'm going over there today and ask if I get a discount if I buy a whole case. All they can do is say, "no". [8D]

Saw my Dad get the price as low as they would go on a refrigerator at a hardware store and then made them throw in a case of .22 shells. They weren't going to, so he walked out the door and started to leave and they call him back. I ask him if he would have left if they hadn't called him back and he said certainly.

I remember that with gun deals or buys-sometimes you had to ask-sometimes they'd just throw in a box or two. Now,, I try to barter my work for guns---haven't found a deal yet. Lots of good guns out there in widows' homes-she doesn't like them but no kids or doesn't want them to have them-I'll sniff some out yet.

I tried! Didn't work. But $8.96 for a box of 550 still isn't bad.

Oh yeah... Dave, I don't crow like no rooster! I just sneak up on 'em! [}:)]
