Many have said to break in is at around 100-200 rounds. I was wondering since my AR is rated for 223 and 556 should I break in using 556 first and then shoot 223s after, or does it really matter?

should have gotten an A.K. They have no break in. You just dig them up out of the mud and start shooting them. The North Vietnamese proved that.

It doesn't matter. Just clean it, lube it, then shoot it.

I'll take a M-16 any day over a ak. The only time I ever had a problem with a M-16 is when a spring got weak. I have fired on full auto until it got so hot the only way to hold it was by the pistol grip and butt or lower.

I think the break-in for a quality AR is to clean it first and put a fresh magazine in.

Did your manual say anything special?
