I've never been a "social animal", but with the general state of everything these days, I find myself even more withdrawn. My biggest thrill of winning the lottery would be that I could avoid people easier, going where I had to in the lightest traffic and and at the least busy times.

People are more stupid by the day, more self-centered, selfish, impatient and inconsiderate. I hate any significant amount of traffic on the road, or "foot traffic" in businesses or anywhere else. I like the rare occaision when I have my shooting range alone for a while.

Sometimes I wouldn't mind if 90% of the population just went "Poof".

Anyone else leaning this way, or do I need "serious help"?

Funny you should bring this up. I was just thinking about how nice, polite & considerate people were for about 6 months after 9/11. Now fuggedaboutit, well its bad anyway. People have alot of issues going on in their lives, so they're looking inward, and just trying to keep going. Putting one foot infront of the other. See I can be thoughtful of others, and cut them some slack, for a minute.

Yes, there are a lot of people who are stupid, self-centered, impatient, and inconsiderate. Fortunately, most people are intelligent, rational, patient, considerate, benevolent. We need to seek those people out and avoid the former, if we can. If we can't totally avoid them adapt the best we can.

Saying that, I enjoy time alone and seek out that time. I also have to have social interaction for perspective and other ways of thinking to remain adaptable to challenges. I don't want my way of thinking to narrow to the point that, as a horse wearing blinders, to cut myself off from serendipity that makes life so interesting. It's a way of thinking. Although not easy and sometimes a great struggle, I refuse to let some arsehole's problem and behavior ruin my day. That's when I load classical music in the car CD, sit back while traffic creeps along and idiots think they are more important than the rest of us. The only control we have is our thinking.

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down, Bearcatter. Our fellow humans sometimes try our patience, to be sure, but that's all part of the human experience. Even though I don't care for crowds and can be a bit shy, at times, I like people, always have. When it comes to people, I'm one of those trusting, the glass is half full types. Maybe you're not. That's okay, because it takes all kinds to make a world. Have a better day, you hear?

I find that hard to argue with.

My "pet peeve" are the entitlement specialists, who are,
unfortunately, an ever growing number.

I will add one other item to the range comment, it's also nice when it is just you and family.

I am becoming more cynical, sarcastic and intolerant of certain things as I get older.

Please don't start talking about Batman movies and such! Big brother is right beside us most of the time if not all the time. I hate going out myself. I just don't have the tolerance I used to for @zzholes? And oddly having a gun in my pocket keeps me from losing my cool as much as I used too?
