The Ruger American has a lot of the flimsy stock problems I am having with my Axis. Some of the New Ruger Americans have a steel rod made into the stock like I am trying to put in my savage. Entry level rifles really do not have a suitable barrel for free floating. Free floating a light sporting barrel is a cost saving measure by manufacturers that they can call an "improvement." Building a proper pillar stock that would support the barrel without creating pressure points would require hand fitting each stock. Hand fitting a stock requires training employees to do a specialized job. That means they have to give the employee raises and vacations, maybe even retirement.

None of these things are accurate, logical, or truthful.
