I am meticulous about keeping my stainless revolvers like new. The best method I have found is to soak the cylinders in a cup filled with "Simple Green" while I clean the barrel. Then use Flitz on a rag and wipe the surface face of the cylinder while still wet from the Simple Green. A bronze brush with Flitz on a cotton square inside the cylinder and all looks like new.

Birchwood or Flitz on a brass brush are very good. I start with a patch over the brush, then when the cleaner is on everything, wait some minutes, and scrub with the brush. Patch, soak, rub, scrub after when needed.

Get a can of "Never-Dull" ... Cleans up the rings on the cylinder without using an abrasive. Quick and easy clean up on Stainless Steel.
First thing I thought of. Buy a tin and you can pass it on to your next of kin. Lasts forever. Myself, I clean the whole revolver with Hoppe's. Whatever ring is left looks good to me. It looks like this revolver means business, like a war worn fighter or bomber.

My wife also ... go to gunstore and look at Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner and Hoppe's Elite Gun Oil ... The Elite line claims to be : " High PerformanceTechnology " Elite Gun Cleaner - cleans down to the pores . Removes carbon , lead and copper . .... drum roll please ... Scent Free !!!
Now I'm not going to tell you it's the greatest cleaner ever made , it cleans pretty good ( as good as Ed's Red Bore Cleaner) but I'm sitting here , open bottle and sniffing it .... I do not smell any thing ! It is scent free .

Hoppe's Elite Gun Oil - High Performance Technology . Superior Lubrication & Corrosion Protection . Repels Dirt and Carbon . Low Odor and Thin Coat technology . Now I just put a drop on my finger , rubber it around and smelled ... I can maybe barely detect a very slight smell but it isn't a bad smell and a second sniff and I can't smell anything ... It is truly Low Odor and not unpleasant . I can clean and oil my revolver and bring it into the bedroom without hearing any wife complaints of ... phew ...what's that smell ...get it out !
Let the wife smell both and see what she says ...or ... clean and lubricate with Elite , sneak the gun inside and see if her nose can ..."sniff it out " .

ive tried alot of the "scentless" products over the years... from own experience gun cleaning chemicals dont do a thing if they dont have some sort of scent.

I typically clean the cylinder bores and around the breach end of the barrel. Burn rings on the face
get cleaned off once in awhile. The lead away cloths seem to work best for in my experience.
I tend to steer clear of any steel wool or stiff wire brushes on those surfaces.

Never dull and other like it ARE abrasive as well as lead away cloths, just mildly so. Trying to make it look unfired is a waste of time in my opinion.

#1 reason why my 6" GP 100 only comes out in October to January (hunting season) #2 reason ammo is expensive as heck.
