It appears to be obsessive. 
If the gun functions, I'd recommend STRONGLY just leaving it alone & shooting it.

A case of "Doctor, it hurts when I do this."

I have a 50th Ann Flattop .44 Mag here that I can push the hammer forward a shade on after I lower it completely.
Could not care less, it functions perfectly.
