I'm new to boiling crawfish on my own. My first boil was a success. it was amazing, 2 sacks, 8 people and nothing went to waste. I'm a gadgets guy so I buy a Boil Boss to cool the pot and I can not repeat the success from the first boil. the only thing I did different is with the first boil, I used ice to cool the crawfish the 150°F temp so the crawfish stop cooking and start soaking the seasoned water. I'm Thinking the Ice shocks the crawfish and it get's to the 150°F temp faster. I didn't time it with the ice but the boil boss cools down the pot in exactly 8.5 minutes with stirring. I hear rave reviews for the boil boss but it just doesn't taste the same. it seems lightly seasoned. I used a 4.5lb bag of Louisiana Crawfish boil and bag of 4.5lbs of Louisiana FIRE. Does anybody else in here use a boil boss?

Never heard of it. We just put them in a cooler along with the corn, mushrooms, potatoes and sausage to mix. Dump let it sit for a while then dump em on the newspaper. Enjoy.
