Well yesterday we had a little magazine comparison that ended in a shoot-out...

I had the BX-25 first and due to the sloppy fit didn't like it too much...but it worked okay so...

Then I got an TI-25 and liked it way better...but kept using both...

Then I had all the rounds refuse to come out of the BX-25 which ticked me off...

I stopped using as much and used all the other ones more but kept trying to keep using the BX some too...

So I am saying that the three 10round rotaries and the TI-25 got used a lot more...

I did the buck22 mod to mine and tried it yesterday...

Loaded it with 25 mini-mags...my LAST 25 mini-mags...used them to make sure I gave the BX every advantage possible...

After the first round the bullets would not only not feed...but like on occasion before...they were jammed in so tight I couldn't pry them out with a crow-bar...

Wanting to retrieve the ammo I went for the wrench...which was not with me...that was the last straw...

There was a shootout...I loaded the TI-25 with federal bulk...set the BX-25 packed in dirt inside a 44oz soda cup (we can still get those here) at 50 yards and and blew it to pieces...

TI-25 WON the shootout...

BX-25 problem solved...

The only bad thing was the mini-mags were not save...

I am not suggesting others destroy theirs...just saying I am free of the burden of trying to get my money's worth out of the one I HAD and will stick with the TI-25 from now on...

Seriously tho...if one has a bx that is working fine then and is not concerned with it being loosey-goosey that is perfectly fine of course...but if one wants one that fits as tight as can be the real fix truly is a TI-25...

If the BX was golden I would not have bought a TI-25 to begin with but the second I got it out the package and put in the gun I was on the road to buyer's remorse...on a different road now...

I hope everyone else is happy with their bx...

What problems were you having with you BX25, beside the loose wiggle and the rounds not wanting to come out, I know that's enough to frustrate anyone.

I have been thinking about getting T25, but have heard that the adjustment screws(which are steel) put wear marks into the aluminum ruger receiver. Have you seen wear marks like this?

Yes...if keeping that surface pristine is your highest priority don't get the TI...

The bx kept needing to be taken apart to get a full deck of rounds out that couldn't be pried out without destroying the rounds and risking exploding them otherwise...not reliable...no point in keeping it...it's gone...problem solved...

Update...

Since my last post in this thread I found out that it makes a big difference in the fitment of the bx-25 in my new plastic trigger group...

However...that had nothing to do with the malfunction that caused me to trash the malfunctioning one...

Also...at the time...I had no idea the mag problem was coming...

In the meantime I got 2 new TI-25s that fit perfect in my carbine with AL trigger group and all three of them perform great...

Additionally, I got two new bx-25s that fit snug enough to suit me for my new Charger and they are working great so far...unlike the last one that seemed to malfunction early on...

The down side of the TI-25s at this point is they are adjusted to fit tight in the aluminum trigger group and won't lock into the Charger...

I did get a plastic trigger group for the carbine and plan to adjust the TI-25s to fit and hopefully they will interchange between charger and carbine with no problems...remains to be seen...will update when I know...

Well I spoke too soon...

Same old bx...25 that is...

Rounds sticking and not feeding properly on second time out with new bx-25...

Had no problems first time out and ran 225 golden bullets through my charger...golden bullet are 36gr cphp but not lubed/waxed...

This time I was running waxed 36gr cphp Mini Mags...problems right off...lots and lots of problems...unlike before where the rounds were getting stuck so bad I had to take the mags apart to get the bullets out...this time they were just not wanting to rise fully up on their own...

Also ran some waxed Federal Game Shok 40gr cprn which are extremely close in every respect to 40gr cprn Mini Mags...same problems...

Most of the ammo I was using in the original bx-25 that is now history were also waxed mini mags...40gr cprn...and Game Shok 40gr cprn...

Every time I think I have these bx-25 mags figured out...

Have never had this problem with any of the TI-25s so far with way more of the same ammo...

So for now the TI-25 is still winning...

I can't recall the exact site, but someone else was having the same problem with CCI mini-mags and ended up sanding down the ridge inside of the feed lips. Essentially, they fed them manually and watched where the bullets were hanging up. They then took sandpaper or a small file and cleaned it up. Presto, no more problem.

Just a thought that might help. Wish I could find that link again.

Yes I did the Buck22 mod on the first one it helped none...you are right about the feed lips getting mucked up and causing problems...however...the feed lips have nothing to do with rounds getting stuck down inside the mag and not wanting to rise up...

Both of the bx-25s in question have low round counts...the original TI-25 and several of my rotaries have had the problem with lips needing cleaning and sanding but those were from blazer ammo which uses a much heavier and harder wax which leaves thick 'scabs' on the feed ramps and causes a failure to chamber...ever since then if I have such a failure I look at the lips/ramps and if there is anything on them I remove it right away...for those mags cleaning and not using blazers cured the problem...they have not malfunctioned since then and like I said earlier it's the same waxed ammo...mini mags and game shok...

If I get to the bottom of it I'll report back or if a TI-25 starts having some problem cleaning won't solve I'll let you all know about that too...

Not everyone has bad luck with them...most seem to think they are great...comparing mostly to lower quality ones of the past and not to the more expensive ones like the TI-25 and the HCR-3 (not sure I got that name right)

At this time my personal opinion is they are better in a plastic trigger group and are much better with non-lubed bulk ammo...there are plenty of those...Remington and Winchester both make more than one variant of that...

Info on the 10/22 mags is now hard to find since admin has stuck all the threads in this long arm accy section that one has to know where to look to begin with...

Well, I'm going to go try my new BX 25 in my 32 year old 10/22 Deluxe later this morning. I'm not going to shed too many tears if it doesn't work. I mostly bought it to exercise my FIRST Ammendment rights, rather than my Second Ammendment rights, lol.

I had a few Butler Creek mags, and an Eagle International mag that came as a package deal with my muzzle brake, back in the day. I never had any problems with them, but I never used them all that much. I found I preferred the flush-fit ten round units and have a bunch of them. It still hacked me off when Kalifornia decided that the addition of a muzzle brake and extended magazine turned my rabbit-wacker and Pepsi can ventilator into public enemy number one. It is just as deadly without those things as it is with them -well, almost.. My 10/22 seems to group tighter with that muzzle brake on it than it does without it, though I don't know why it should and intuitively, I would expect the opposite to be true. I was so happy to be able to use it again, though, that the first thing I unpacked when I escaped from California and moved to Oklahoma was my 10/22 and the first thing I did was put my muzzle brake on. I didn't give buying an extended magazine much thought until "firearmaggedon" happened..

Even if the BX 25 works like a champ, I'll probably not use it all that much. Still glad I got it, though. Hopefully, I still feel that way six or seven hours from now when I try it out at the range.

I have 3 BX-25's and my friend also has 3. Our last big shoot, before ammo vanished, we ran those 6 BX-25's in 3 10/22's and a Charger for over 2,000 rounds. Flawless operation in all 4 guns. Sorry to hear your problems but I'm loving my BX-25's and want more.

Let me know what you think. I just got 2 bx-25's and will be using them at the range tomorrow and will also give an update. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and it was ALL positive!

I've got one BX25, two rotaries, and a Butler Creek (I think) 25 round steel lips. The Rugers all function flawlessly, the Butler Creek functions flawlessly with 20 rounds loaded, but put in the last five and they won't feed on their own and the semi-auto becomes a straight bolt action for those first five, but it doesn't jam.

Used the BX 25 for the first time today

I ordered on the 9th of January. It landed on my door last Wednesday. I ran 300 rounds of copper washed Mini Mags through it with out a single fart, burble, or hiccup.

Easy to load. No issues. Fits pretty tight in my old 1980 vintage 10/22. Fits really good with a strip of electrical tape on either side of it where it fits in the "mag well".

So I am happy with it, I guess.

I still like the flush fitting 10 round magazines better, though.

I have had great luck with my BX25. Swapping my plastic trigger group for an aluminum didn't give me any malfunctions. The only malfunctions I've had were because of ammo. Maybe the "Magazine Gods" are mad at you?

There is a technical reason why it should be more accurate with a good compensator...

Glad they are running well for you...however, with all due respect (tape shims is fine with me I'm not knocking it at all) if you have room for two layers of electrical tape (approximately 1mm/layer thick)...that is an extremely sloppy fit...

The bx-25 is quite snug in my new charger...almost on par with TI-25 adjusted for the aluminum trigger group as for fitment...I am very happy about that...

Prior to latest malfunction with waxed bullets I had already ordered 4 more from Ruger because when I first took my charger out with the new bx-25 I ran 200 rnds of golden bullets thru it with zero malfunctions...it was the second time out with waxed bullets I had the problems...the recent problems were no where near as severe as the first one...so I am hopeful...

Additionally after way too many malfs with waxed bullets I ran 50 rounds of thunderbolts thru it which are not waxed...had several duds...but no feed problems at all...

That is why I say I think the bx-25 is more prone to sticking rounds if they are waxed...

I could be wrong...but that is my opinion at this time...

I have never had this problem with any ammo in the first TI-25 I bought at the same time I got my first (now long gone) bx-25 and have run thousands of rounds of all kinds of ammo thru it...

The only problems I ever had were with Blazers not feeding...but the rounds were not getting stuck down inside the mag like both of the bx-25's have done...
