Guy I used to work with, lived close to a Russel Stover candy factory. Every now and then they would reject a batch of some ingredient , chocolate, nougat, caramel, etc, and he would buy it and feed the block (4'x4'x4') to his pigs. They fattened up nicely on the stuff by eating their way into it, cut way back on his grain bill. He laughed when I asked if that was what is meant by "sugar cured" ham.
