That's Candice Swanepoel in the main pic with the especially colorful wings. I love her accent, sort of British with Afrikaaner/Boer undertones. And I like her relative shyness and general modesty.
Compare her voice to their other South African, Behati Prinsloo, Mrs. Adam Levine. Behati (a Biblical name) sounds almost American. Her family lives in Namibia now, but she was born in Johannesburg. Candice is from Mooi River in the Kwa/Zulu Natal province.
I love this show, and you can see previous years' shows complete on YouTube. I think the 2014 show from London was the best yet, but haven't seen this year's show. It was filmed on Nov. 10, but will be broadcast by CBS on Dec. 8, a Tuesday.
One of my favorite models, a Dutch chick named Doutzen Kroes, left VS after last year's show. Said she had too many other commitments to L'Oréal, etc. and needed more time for her two little kids and her charity work.
But the saucy Aussie, Miranda Kerr, is reported to be returning to VS. I love her voice in interviews and her wry humor.
James is wrong: all of these girls are unique and each is highly decorative. I hope Devon Windsor is back this year. She was one of the highlights in last year's show, especially in a set of blue wings like a dragonfly's. Devon is pretty young (19?), but interviews very well and walks with confidence especially impressive in a young model.
Taylor Swift's close friend Lily Aldridge is wearing the expensive fantasy bra this year. I guess it's been toned down: in 2013, Candice wore one worth $10 million! She joked in a TV talk show interview that she was looking for someone to buy it for her. I don't think she got any takers. And these poor girls can't afford those expensive jeweled promotional bras. Most don't earn more than 5-6 million dollars in an average year. That figure that you've seen bandied about re Tom Brady's wife's income includes her line of beach wear in Brazil. She (Gisele Bundchen) has some $150 million-$345 million, depending on your source. (Forbes, etc.) Giselle told Charlie Rose on the CBS morning talk show a week or so ago that her big break in modelling came when VS offered her a $25 million contract when she was 20!
But none of these girls has to eat at McDonald's...
Look them up on the Net or watch them on YouTube. They are absolutely NOT all alike. BTW, the only time I've ever seen Behati Prinsloo stressed out is when she looks nervous right before she walks the first time in the annual show. She is otherwise so cheerful and happy that I wish she could bottle whatever makes her so upbeat. She speaks English perfectly as well as her basic Afrikaans, as does Candice. (Afrikaans is based on Dutch; the Dutch founded Cape Town in 1652 and were the primary European settlers in South Africa until the major arrival of the British in 1820.)
Thanks for the post. I saw one of the Angels talking about the show on an entertainment program ("Extra") but hadn't seen Candice in those wings yet. BTW, the girls say those wings are often quite heavy and they have to lean forward a little and use their strength to walk gracefully in them.
I don't understand why some older guys on gun boards get upset when people make posts like this. I guess it's sour grapes because they're too old to chase chicks or never dated any like these. I doubt that any of the VS Angels would give me more than an autograph when they appear in the stores. But I'd like to at least meet my favorites, and even hope to surprise Candice and Behati with a few Afrikaans words and some knowledge of their country. Couldn't date either even if I was rich: one is married to a famous singer and the other is finally engaged to the same man she's dated steadily for ten years, since she was 17. But they'd be a joy to gaze upon and talk a little, if the lines to meet them weren't too long. I saw Heidi Klum in a VS store once and the place was packed like a sardine can, with the line of admirers going out all the way to the mall doors and beyond, I think. And that is a BIG mall! Interestingly, many of their fans are women.
