With the economy, I keep my oil heat set on 62, and use two infrared heaters to warm a family room and a bedroom. The room where my guns are only gets the furnace heat. The house stays about 60 degrees with 55 percent humidity.

I have Stack-On pistol boxes (upgraded with better locks) and keep my handguns in siliconed socks. Being all stainless, I don't worry about them so much.

My 10/22 Sporter is in a siliconed sock, and in an Allen "10/22" rug hung inside a heavy coat in a closet. I've checked it every week with a bore light, and so far, so good.

Anybody else dealing with "economical" storage conditions?

YIKES you have some sky high humidity!!
I would invest in some dessicant packs, or longer term coatings. WD-40 has a thick spray on choosing for this type of purpose.

Very dry here. I keep a humidifier in the bedroom. We are at 55% now in NH. I don't think 53% is that high. Yiogo

20% is getting humid, in my country; so to ME that IS high humidity.
