What's the coolest named gun to you? Not the coolest gun, but the coolest name you've ever heard a gun been labeled? Doesn't matter which manufacturer but I'm seeing more of a trend for guns to be given model numbers, (for example a model 19, 60, 10/22, or GP100). While we know them through these model numbers I find it a little boring. I sort of miss guns with REAL names. Let's hear your favorites!

I always liked the classic naming of Smith & Wesson revolvers which use to also show up on the product manuals/box. It seems like most people today have forgotten these and are just going by model numbers instead.

Distinguished Combat Magnum = model 686, 586
Combat Magnum = model 19, 66
Highway Patrolman = model 28
Original .357 Magnum = model 27
Combat Masterpiece = model 15, 67
Target Masterpiece = model 14
Military & Police Magnum = model 13
Military & Police / Victory Model = model 10, 64

The Centennial = model 640, 642, 442, 340, 40

I gotta agree. Even someone who doesn't know jack about guns will probably surmise that a gun called the Ruger Alaskan is probably a big mama jamma.

And Colt's snake guns are a pretty good idea for varying calibers barrel lengths etc of revolvers.

Colt hit the marketing jackpot with it's "snake" guns: Python, Diamondback, Cobra, Anaconda, etc.
Indian names were also pretty good..Remington Apache .22 or Llama Comanche
The defunct Wolverine was also good.

I like the Russians naming their guns to honor the inventors.

Ma Deuce

Mini gun

Chopper

Chicago Typewriter

Delta Elite

Pig

Saturday Night Special

Peacemaker

Boom Stick

Scatter Gun

I know some of these are slang terms, but I do like the naming of firearms, offically or unofficially. ;)

Snake Charmer - it was a short (yet still legal length) single-shot .410 shotgun.

Colt Lightning and Thunderer. (OK I know Colt didn't name them that, but their biggest distributor did and it stuck, even 138 years later.)

More of a system than a gun, but I always liked the name and the sound of a Phalanx.
