How can I find out the date of manufacture of my new to me Mark II 22/45 competition? The serial number number is 218-35746. Any help would be appreciated.

If you call Ruger customer service they'll give you month of manufacture.

Curiously enough, after dating all of my Rugers with Ruger customer service directly, I found that the Ruger serial number chart on their website is not always accurate. Some guns that clearly looked to be in one year were actually in a different year according to customer service.

I didn't ask them why, I just noticed the difference...

My take is they intend those charts for "ballpark only" estimates. Even the fine print hints at this.

If you call with a list of serials customer service will oblige - low hanging fruit to them!
