or just standing? I'm having trouble finding a clear and simple answer. My online searches produce rifle positions, and a mix of one- and two-handed pistol positions.
Thanks.

Off hand means standing, with no support other than your hands. It can mean either one or two handed.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but it came up in another topic and I just wasn't sure.

Depends on what you are shooting...standing and shooting a rifle, not leaning against a tree or anything like that, is considered offhand.

Around here, in some handgun matches on a paper target, offhand is shooting one handed. Much more difficult for most than punching one ragged hole in a target with a two hand hold.

In some hand gun matches, holding a handgun with both hands, is also considered off hand, if you are not resting on anything.
