Only fmj I'd use for CCW would be inn .45-230Gr. or if all I had but a rock was a cheap .380 or .32-I'd use ball to improve chances to feed...I believe HP bullets are better and most LE agencies agree-only our poor servicemen must carry FMJ--you can buy 20 rd. Gold Dot, Golden Sabre, etc. for carry and shoot the cheap FMJ for practice-at combat ranges, the point of aim won't change that much-and cheap lets you practice enough-save the good stuff for when you leave the range. What do I know, I'm just old, fat, and full of ...opinions. If you can handle the .40 well, you can excel with a .45, and be well protected no matter what you feed it. Big hole is big hole...

I kind of have to agree with Sheepdog, however, all the .40 fmj stuff I have shot has a flat point instead of a round nose. These are somewhat more effective than a round nose. They wouln't be my first choice, but I wouldn't feel too undergunned if I had to use them.
