FN is the name of the company. They are a Beligian company. But, there is a USA branch as well (Like Beretta and Beretta USA). FN stands for "Fabrique Nationale"

FN makes all sorts of weapons. They actually make most of the M16s for the military. But, they contract doesn't allow them to make civilian ARs for the public.

Fabrique nation'al (however it is spelled) I believe the Browning guns of older times when they were made in Belgium.
As preiously stated, they are heavy into the modern military market.

Fabrique Nationale de Herstal, more often abbreviated as Fabrique Nationale or simply FN, is a Belgian manufacturer of firearms. The official company name is FN Herstal.

Also use to manufacture cars, trucks and motorcycles.

FN owns the U.S. Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) and the Browning Arms Company.
