When first purchased they get a through cleaning and lube.
Then I also prefer to clean em after they have been fired.
EDC also gets a light wipe down at least once a week.
Now, they need to be cleaned after purchase and after heavy use. And before storage.
After 50 rounds or so. I'd run a cotton swab down the barrel, wipe down and call it good! Next time out, I'd break it down and apply some solvent, dry her out and light oil, wipe down...til next time!
If I'm testing a weapon's reliability, I lube it every 500 rounds and perform no cleaning until it starts malfing on multiple mags. Otherwise, it gets both cleaned and lubed after every time it gets used. That works out to be cleaning every 50-200 rounds for most of my firearms.
