Galco does not currently make their Ultra Deep Carry for the Ruger SP101. When I asked they said they would if there were enough requests so I figured why not post here :)

For those who are not familiar with this IWB holster, it rides deeper inside the pants than most greatly increasing it's concealability yet provides enough grip to be grasped. A shirt could also be tucked over it. It is pretty much the same as Galco's "USA In the pants" holster except with a reinforced opening.

Other make snubbie owners sing it's praises.

If people have other suggestions for low riding/deep concealment IWB for the SP101 please do share.

Like RNettles said - welcome.

There are other IWB/tuckable holsters out there (HighNoon for example) that would do the same job as the Ultra Deep Cover. I like Galco, too, and own a couple. The Galco UDC fits the J frame Smith and it is not a molded-fit holster. I don't know for sure, but it might be possible to stretch this J frame holster to fit the slightly larger SP101. Somebody out there may have tried something like this, and could let you know.

Having owned a SP-101 and still own a couple of M-36's J-frames the holsters just don't fit right when you try to change them around. I found that anything with hammer sticking out will get caught up in your shirt or pants when in a deep conceal holster. Not all the time but when you need it the most it might. I use nothing but belt sliders for revolvers anymore. That's just me though. Good luck.

That's why I had the hammer spur taken off my SP101.

Baldy which Galco do you use?

Baldy,

I saw your post nearby saying you carry SP101 in a Galco IWB with a J-hook and was wondering if it was one I was looking for, then found your other post so edited this since question answered. Thanks for the quick reply :)

I carried one in a Galco IWB with a simple J-hook for the belt at about 1' off my right hip. Rode good but you have to have a good belt or it will drag your pants down. It's a heavy little booger at 27ozs empty but it's a good shooter if the need arises. Good luck.

I used a Galco Scout for mine. It has a J-hook that goes under the belt and it can't come off with a fast draw. I know because I practiced and practice some more with it. Here's a link to it. They show a automatic in it but at the top of the page it says it's for the SP-101 too. Work good for me. Good luck.

Regarding the hammer getting caught in this form of carry, I might go with a DAO version or see if Ruger will let me swap out the parts.

It looks like High Noon's Hidden Alley might ride low with a snub revolver, hard to tell since the photo is with a Glock.

Does anyone have this or one of their other tuckable versions with a Ruger, S&W, Colt, Taurus or other snub revolver? I want to hear or better yet see (picture please) how low it rides in the waistband.

Thanks in advance.

I use a Highnoon Split Decision, which is the same as Hidden Ally except that it has a cant, to carry an SP101 snubby. If you look at the Highnoon site holster pic, you'll notice the black clip which fits over your belt. Imagine a belt line - top of this clip rests on the top edge of the belt. As you can imagine, everything lower than this belt line top represents what's hidden inside your waistband. All you see of the revolver is part of the trigger guard, hammer, and grip. The holster holds your gun tight against your side. If you use it as a tuckable (you can tuck in about 4 inches of shirt edge) all you see is the belt clip - pistol will be hidden in the folds of your shirt. I've been happy with it. I hope this helps - sorry no pics of mine.
