Georgia: Self-Defense Legislation Heads to Senate Floor for Possible Vote

Friday, January 11, 2008

House Bill 89 has been carried over from the 2007 session and could be up for a possible vote any day now, HB 89 would enhance the right of self-defense by allowing an individual who qualifies for a license to carry a handgun, even if the individual does not have such a license, and to transport a loaded firearm in any private motor vehicle on to a parking lot that has public access.

It is imperative that you contact your State Senator and State Representative TODAY in support of this important piece of Second Amendment legislation.

sheepdog says:I like the feature which allows carry even without a license...if you would be qualified, or, more accurately, if you would not be disqualified...that's as close to acknowledging our right to carry as I've seen (excepting Vt. and Alaska) in a licensing state...very fair....here's the actual link to the bill

I hope it works out. It's weird. One state will be working on more gun rights, and another one will be trying to ban all guns. It all depends on who's in power I suppose.
