I'm thinking about H110 or Lil" Gun. No experience with either. What I would like to know is how well they (the powders) reduce and how clean they burn. The throats on my 1974 Blackhawk in 45 LC are perfect for my .452 lead 300 grainers in both plain base and gas check, yet are sooty with factory loads, case probably not expanding enough. I have plenty of 2400 and was thinking about a starting load of 13.5 grains in the 45 LC case, over standard primers and a stiffer crimp with the 302 and 306 grain .452" boolits. I will verify that powder weight before I begin.

You can find plenty of full power loading data but what I want is maybe 900 to 1000 fps for a plinking 300 pb load. I prefer a destructive form of plinking. I have the Super Blackhawk for the hairy stuff and a 45-70 if I really need some recoil.

For myself I stick with 250g RNFP or 255g SWC bullets. But I did test some heavy bullets with Longshot for a club friend. 285g SWC, 300g FNGC, and 320g FNGC bullets. For the 285g SWC, 300-320 bullets 10.0g or 10.5g of Longshot will get you where you want to be for ~1000fps. I marked the loads as 'accurate'. These was shot out of 5 1/2" BH. YMMV.

Problem (?) is, I have over 35 lbs. of 300grs. boolits on hand and close to 8 lbs. of your 255 grainers. I will look into Longshot powder. Thanks.
