New user...Have just purchased a Ruger Mark III Target 22/45. Have not fired as yet. Everything seems to be ok, except when I pull the bolt back and release, it will not dry fire? Have tried with and w/o mag and safety Fire...Does the gun have to be loaded to fire??

Jack ... 1st of all welcome to the forum ... Glad to have you aboard! Secondly, in answer to your questions:
1. You did submit your "New User" thread twice (we removed the duplicate)
2. Regarding the dry fire issue, the MKIII 22/45 should dry fire after you cycle the bolt if an empty magazine is in place and the safety is off. It sounds as though the disconnector is not resetting properly. Since it's brand new, if it were me, I would field strip and give it a good clean and lube to see if the problem disappears.

welcome from nevada! enjoy the forum and your ruger! i've been salivating over the 22/45 for about a month now. might have to go get one (when funds allow). have fun with it. also, i'm sure buck set you on the right path. there are some good videos on ruger's own website under their videos/techtips links. youtube also has tons of videos people have made- may even be one for exactly your situation.
