There is only one reason why a political office holder-or party-would want to disarm the law-abiding portion of America-and that is fear. There is only one entity that fears armed Americans-evil. When we have so many pressing problems in this country which are far from being solved, many of which affect millions more than guns do-and they focus on taking, restricting, etc. our guns-they are clearly about controlling us-not serving us-(for the people)....only an idiot can hold the position that laws and restrictions stop crime-all the statistics since 68 show otherwise-they attack the very spirit that makes us free and allows us to remain armed---able to resist a gov't that wants us other than free.

ANY one of our rights-even freedom of speech-insures the other ones...too many want to be PC and so won't speak out loudly when something's wrong-silence is agreement. I'd rather be thought the bad guy than my kids and those who count on me suffer because I was quiet---our country wasn't begun nor preserved by quiet men-but men who said what they believed and put their bodies behind it...just watched the Fox special on Radical Islam's plans for us---and several who were from the inside of radical Islam warned us repeatedly-believe it-admit it-prepare a defense-it's going to happen-they're among us right now...but that's not PC...neither was Jesus Christ...or Patrick Henry...or Winston Churchill...or Ben Franklin...or the Duke....we don't need nice guys in the USA today--we need men and women who stand for something-who'll speak it loud and stand behind it...as a nation we're being fattened for the kill-time to be a bit more uncomfortable and lots more safe. We don't need a gov't that promises to take care of us and give us ANYTHING except the freedom to become all we can-and the ability to be safe as Americans always have been safe-by their own preparation and actions...whenever or from wherever the evil appears to threaten our homes and families.

Well written Sheepdog. I've always been outspoken about my beliefs, but most of the people I know don't think I'm a bad guy because of it. When I say something to my co-workers about how I should keep my mouth shut some times, they just laugh and say, "We always know where we stand with you...we never have to guess about your opinion on things." You are absolutely right - we all need to speak out against people who would restrict our right to protect our freedom. We are not as young as we once were, but I like to think that we are wiser and prepared to do whatever is necessary to preserve our family's safety and our way of life.

Great thread. I am always more comfortable around those who speak their minds. I appreciate your sharing your views. My main issue for voting for a person is the same as sheepdogs first post. Anyone who is trying to take my means to defend myself away is not, or ever will be my friend or ally. It's all about control. The government is not your friend, or ever will be. I don't want anything from the government except the opportunity to create the life I want through my own efforts. They don't ever GIVE you anything without extracting a price for it. Not to be too negative, but I feel elections are to choose the lesser of the evils. I'm always looking for a reason to change my mind, but haven't been too sucessful as of late.
