I have the XS rail on mine and switch between a Leupold 2.5 x 28 scout scope and a Nikon 3-9x40 buckmaster depending on the need. Both are on QR Warne rings and stay zeroed with no issues. In my opinion the XS rail may be worth the wait. My GSR is the front rifle in my avatar pic----

If you want to use the receiver mounts on the GSR but want to keep irons, then have a rear sight put on the barrel. Could have a dovetail cut and a folding blade installed in the rib.

GSR traditional mounted scope

I use the AD Recon X. I has a 3" cantilever and the GSR wears it backwards and this gives me the 4" eye relief that my Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10X44 likes.
