I purchased a new H+R 949 .22 revolver many years ago and I'm trying to figure out what year it was made. I found an online post of someone whose serial # starts with AD and he says his was made in 1967. My serial # starts with AR so does that mean mine was made in 1981 ?

I never spent enough time with it when I was younger, but now that I'm a target shooter I've found it to be VERY accurate. I like the pistol but the grip seems short and kind of awkward after shooting my center fire pistols, and even my SR-22. I'd really like to trade it on a new M9-22 but I'm reluctant to part with it when it can shoot 9 round groups like the smaller target in the upper right from 5 yds. And it will shoot the cheap stuff that can cause issues in the SR-22.

After more digging I found this in case someone else has a similar question. It appears to have been made from 1940-1982. My serial # starts with AR so it was made in 1977.

Just wondering if those serial number prefixes apply to the H&R 929 Side Kick, 9 shot revolver as well?
I have one that belonged to my Grandpa with the Z prefix, that makes sense for the time frame he was using the pistol.
He mostly used it for snake control on his acreage property in the Arkansas Ozarks. He would load it with birdshot and dispatch Copperheads and Cottonmouths.
