A big HOWDY to ya !:D
Been trying to get ready for the Montana trip.
On September 8th,comming back from Barnes Welding Supplies in Modesto.
Headed north on Tully.
Well, things going good,Murphy decided it was my turn [}:)].
Doing 35 MPH,posted speed.Just past the intersection of Roseburg,a car passes me going faster then 35.A driver was in the turn lane, making a left.He thought it was clear. As he was making his turn, just seen him, after he was almost straightened out,hit the brakes hard, left a skid mark.I hit him.Was about 50-60 yards north of the intersection.
Yes, it was a failure to yield-to-the-right of way for on comming traffic (me).No injuries to either of us.Sure, we were talking.
We're not mad at each other. He just didn't see me.
Have the Honda in the shop.
So, our Montana trip is delayed,:( til early October.

There are two kinds of riders, those that have went down, and those that are going to! I have had some road rash myself. No fun at all. Glad you are all right.

Well, I shoulda said "Passport".Part time 4X4.[:I]
Sorry for the cornfusion.
If it was a GoldWing,I'd be devistated.
Planning on 4 rifles and 6 handguns. And, about 200lbs of ammo.
the weight keeps rising.:DMost is 45 Colt,some 45-70,with 44 mag and 454 Casull.
My pard said "Bring something to shoot.".Think I've got that covered.:)
But this trip is primarily for work.Getting my resumes ready for
hand delivery.Sent out quite a few.Won't be looking for electrical
work only.Did get my certificate from Modesto Junior College May 3rd.
We went to Tombstone,AZ May 5th.On our way home, visited with another pard in Wickenburg,AZ.Hit it off right away. Our first meet, since we've been on the Wild West forum. He's an author of Wild West books.
Still have some gunsmithing-limited.
And computers to add to the list.
Haven't seen any calls for a peach pitter mechanic.
June 1st, went to Alquist Arms in Turlock.
Since I didn't get a retirement watch,or graduation gift,thought about a 45 ACP Kimber.No used ones.
Over to the cowboy guns.figured,I'd be happier.
Was presented with the handling of another 45 Colt Vaquero.
Only thing I said "SOLD !".Actually,12 days later,I picked it up.
This is considered my graduation and birthday present.
Note:Very little had to be done to this Ruger. Was pretty good,I'd say.
Slicked up a few parts-done.
Only thing is, wished I'da bought one a little fancier.
Well,can't complain.

45 Colt, I’m sorry to hear about your accident. Glad nobody got hurt. Well, not sure about your law, in VA a speeding vehicle automatically looses its right of way.

Hi Blade,:D
The speed on Tully,is 35MPH all the way from 9th St (old Hwy 99)to Briggsmore, and on past Sylvan.
But, just before this, watched a female, yacking on the phone, doing 45 MPH or a little more.Sign says 35 MPH in several spots along Tully.
Made sure I was on the nose. Then, it happened.
Just be glad when this is all over.
The insurance is investigating.
What makes this bad,is at the corner, there is a little shopping center.
Then an alley, and next to this is a house, where the other was turning into.
Plus, another driver past me after the girl did, going a few higher than the posted speed limit.
Since the insurance hasn't faulted me,told me to take the Honda to any
body shop I chose.Air bag didn't deploy.
The guy's RF passenger door was totaled. And both if over $750.00 damage,a report to DMV is required.Looks like both of us will need to report. My damage is over $2,000.00.Good thing I still have full coverage.$500.00 deductable, insurance the rest.
Plus, no leaks !:D.Before I took it in,went to the credit union.
Something wrong with the RF brake.Wasn't there before the accident.
Told the shop about it.Said they'll check into it.And, a smell of hot/burning rubber.Didn't see anything with the tire.Except the lower part of the bumper was rubbing on the tire.
After the appraiser's pics were done, chopped away part of the the bumper. Was told about "Hidden damages" from the appraiser.
Somewhat driveable.Didn't want to make anything worse.
Might find out something this week.
Tomorrow,8 days since taken in.
A PIB,when you don't have wheels. It's the only one we have.
You have a good week.:D Better than what I had.[:I]

Glad you're back on the Board. Wish you well in your job search. Work can be either fun or a drag. Life is a lot more enjoyable if you are doing what you like to do, and you are also better at it. :D

Guess I read "bike" when I saw Honda. I keep forgetting there are all these other type of Japenese vehicles out there now. I remember when Datsun first brought over their econo car - the B-210 I think it was. Still, there is the blessing you walked away with no injuries. Check the car over good when you get her back, they should fix anything you report right away.

Hi Jimbo,
I remember the Honda 50.What I started with.
Then wound up with a Yamaha 250 YD-S2,the 2 cycle.
In the early 70's, got escorted off the South Gate of Camp Pendleton.
The CO, didn't like motorcycles.
Yeah, "Honda" does conjure up bikes.Guess,it's a natural thing to do.
KP97DC, and Jimbo, thanks.(Back on the forum)
Looks like another nice day.
Still wondering,which load to do next.Last week,some 45 Colts done with Triple 7,2F,255gr bullet.With a drop tube.
The cast one's I did about a week prior, are unsized.
And, the fun part:Silver bullets.Used a 1lb roll of solid core silver solder.A real PIB to get out of the mold. Will do only a few more.
You'll like this homemade lube: beeswax and lard (pig fat). One guy calls them the "anti-jihadi" lube.
I'll get the URL posted in the "Reloading" section.
Did Wolfsong disappear in the dark recesses of the women's prison in Chowchilla ? Still have those 300+ 45 ACP's for him.
Will see what's in store today.

Hi Blade,
Not too sure, but, this can be the basic same thing here.
Think it's if found speeding, the driver is cited for speeding,if in an accident. And, can lose the "right-of-way".Then,points on the driving record, plus the citation, increased insurance.Quite possible, reckless driving.
Been a long time since I've read the Penal Code/DMV Code.

Hey, 45 Colt! If they found him guilty, then HIS insurance covers everything, not yours. Your only fault was that you didn't take slight right to the shoulder to avoid collision while depending on sloppy brakes. Can't imagine that happen on 35 but anyways may be worth trying to negotiate with the guy. :)
