My wife and I are native Texans, but we had been wanting to move to AR for a long time. A year ago, we finally had enough of what had been done to the great state of TAXES and left.
I started buying guns and reloading in the mid '70's. After talking to a few guys and learning what I could, I decided the guys that considered themselves the 'elite' with their very expensive Smiths and Colts were not my type. If I could get two Rugers for the price of one of the the others I decided on the Rugers. I enjoyed taking them apart and polishing parts up and having a pretty good gun.
I did end up buying a Colt 1911 Government Model, though. Great gun. My first guns were a Stainless Security Six and a Single Six. Great for either reduced load target .38s or full throttle .357s.
Soon a .45 Colt/ACP convertible seemed necessary as did a Mini-14. There seemed to be no end in sight.
Times changed a few years later. I had six kids to feed (only two were mine) no wife and too disabled to work any longer. The guns were all sold
and my reloading equipment was all stolen out of a commercial storage. Move on a few more years and I started over with the guns. This time, with a good woman, that had most all the same interests, as me. I guess she is probably a better shot too [:I].
I have been scouring the Internet for am much info, on everything I could find, gun related. I have been looking for any groups that follow the same line of thinking as me. There are not many, but the group here seems to fit very well. I have lurked for awhile and read back aways on previous posts. Still have a ways to go though. Lots of good info and experience here. I hope I am able to contribute something useful, too.
We have been concerned about the way this country is headed, for a long time. That is one of the main reasons we came to N. AK. Seems to be one of the best places to dig in and hope for the best, but get ready for the worst.
