Laws vary from State to State, sometimes from place to place.Couple of thoughts. As a retired prosecutor and multiple law enforcement jobs before that, you cannot shoot a person who claims you have stolen his room. You can only shoot folks, Castle Doctrine or not, when they pose a likelihood of committing serious bodily harm to some person. The Castle doctrine does not give you a right to shoot strangers in your house. It is simply a legal tool that creates a bar from prosecution if you are protecting some person in your house. Also there is the stand your ground laws, which simply means you do not have to sneak out the back door when a burglar enters, you can stand and defend where you are. That might also be a hotel room, a car, a sidewalk or wherever. But those legal defenses only help you if you act reasonably. If the person kicked the door open and then stood outside and did nothing more, you would have zero right to shoot that person.
No. You are way off base. I do in fact blame Holiday Inn very much, But I blame Mr. Stupid, because he was forcing his way in with me on the other side, with my shoulder agaist the door. Are you indicating that you would have told the people that YOU were coming in anyway, and pushed against the force of a man on the other side of the door, just because you were wrongly issued a key to the wrong room? I hope not. That would make you unstable, or maybe stupid. The idiot, Mr. Stupid, really? ....... You blame him because he had a working key given to him by the hotel and that’s his fault how??? The blame rests solely on the management. That’s who you should be complaining about.

Mark: Maybe you are not understanding. They man was "NOT simply trying to USE HIS KEY, to get in. Totally wrong image. I was on one side of the door holding it closed with my weight, and he was trying to force it "OPEN". My wife laying in the bed, had to get out to get my gun. I could not get it dead bolted, as he had his foot against the other side of the door. I also didn;t post his dialog, as it was colorful and threatful, not suited for this post. If your telling me that you would have just let him in. I don't believe you. I gotta call BS on that. I just found your reply post, and to be honest if had a troll feel. I should not have feed your troll. But you wont convience me that your would let a stranger "FORCEFULLY" Enter your room with your wife still lying in bed, with out me calling BS. I think you were just trolling me. I am sorry for feeding that troll. You "WERE NOT THERE UNLESS YOU WERE THE FOOL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT DOOR.I am way off base........really???? You my friend are way off base insinuating that I'm unstable or stupid!!! You don't even know me. For all the gentleman, (notice how I don't disrespect him by calling him "Mr. Stupid") trying to enter the room knew was that you were in his room. After all he did have working key issued by management. What's so hard to understand about that??
Did you think when you posted this thread that everyone was gonna fall in right behind you and take your side? After looking through the posts not everyone did.
I can't believe you are responding to my post from July 10th. Does it bother you that much?
Maybe it's time to put this incident behind you and move on.
My wife and I are in a Holiday Inn Express, it's about 9PM, and we are already in bed with an early morning hike planned. We hear the door open and I bolt out of bed and hit the door with my shoulder slamming it back shut. Yes, we forgot to deadbolt it, it was chain locked. I hollered out this room is occupied, and the idiot on the other side of the door, actually responded, "No this is my room and my Key works so I'm coming in.". I deadbolt the door, and this idiot is still trying, while my wife pulls my P89 out of the holster. Finding the door deadbolted, the idiot goes back downstairs to complain. Where stupid is told that they accidentally, rented out the same room twice. Mr Stupid, had no idea that we were armed. Wheew! Can't fix stupid.
Could you believe that HIE didn't even say sorry?
Ok, here's your opening post.................here's mine. How is this that trolling? I don't troll anyone, period. If I did you'd damn sure know it. What my post took issue with was the fact that YOU put all the blame on the GENTLEMAN who thought it was his room, NOT the management company. What I take issue with is the lack of respect you showed this man on here, i.e. "the idiot", "Mr. Stupid". You need to cut this guy some slack, or does belittling other people boost your self esteem, or maybe it makes you feel better about yourself? Again, trying to break into your room is one thing, having a key is different. The idiot, Mr. Stupid, really? ....... You blame him because he had a working key given to him by the hotel and that’s his fault how??? The blame rests solely on the management. That’s who you should be complaining about.
