Tongue in cheek:
1) I tell my gf how much i have invested in my ammo.
2) I tell her if we have a loss, the loss will be purchased again to cover it.
3) Finally, I tell her she is responsible to protect the value of this stash.
4) Not a single bullet lost.

I just use old tool boxes that I have collected through the years.
Smaller ones will hold a lot of ammo, to the point that you need a hand truck to move it around.
Pretty much a box per caliber for me, one just has loaded mags for everything.

I picked up a display model of one the Stack-On ammo cabinets a few years ago for cheap and it holds all my .22 ammo. My other calibers (.38,.357, 9mm, .45 and .44) are stored in those big plastic ammo boxes with rubber sealed lids. I throw in lots of those desiccant moisture remover packs and store the boxes in a metal tool cabinet .. I have those dehumidifiers in the storage cabinets too.

I may give my nephews a couple boxes each of 9mm or .22s for Christmas but I ain't sellin' nuffin' ... if I run out of room to store it, I'll just start shootin' more of it.
