[ATTACH]21343[\/ATTACH It's been awhile since I've posted anything here. It's also been awhile since I've had my SR1911. I've been busy & haven't had the time to post much, I still from time to time post on the "what did you shoot today" thread when I have the time. About a year & a half ago I was searching for night sights for my SR1911. Nobody made a set for them! I ordered a Kensight set for Novak cut dovetails thinking they might work. Took it to my lgs & had them put on. The sights barely fit & were canted, the gunsmith did what he could given what he had to work with. These were adjustable sights but it shot very high, tried to adjust but up was the only option; shot about 6" high on the lowest setting. So I took it to another gunsmith & he said to fix it might take awhile, had to find something that would fit. Upon further inspection he found that the gunsmith at my lgs had filed on the slide to get the sights to fit. This caused finding sights even more difficult. He couldn't find any other sight company that had or would make any thing to fit. Upon further research he found out there was a batch of SR1911's where the cut for the dove tail was too shallow, he said Ruger won't admit that there was\/is a problem but at any rate it; cutting the slide deeper was not an option. Luckily the company I ordered the sights from, Kensight; was the only company that offered any help. They recently have been developing the horizontal rear tritium sight for sale to other applications. From what he understands that these type of sights were only available for Coonan pistols. It's been over a year since I've seen my pistol! I can't blame anybody other than maybe Ruger for not offering night sights for this line of pistol. The sights look great & I can't wait to try them out! I really miss my SR1911 & am so glad to have it back!
