Hello Im new here , and I also came here with this same problem. Took my new p95 to the range for the first time yesterday. Ran a box of 100 115g Winchesters through it. Switched over to 2 boxes of Federal 115g and it started miss feeding, the ejected shells would get stuck between the slide, the slide wouldnt lock back after the last round, and 2 times the gun got jammed and i couldnt rack the slide or anything. My wife took video of me shooting and I noticed the Federal ammo would not eject out as far as the Winchester ,it would barely eject past my hand and then jam.

I also did not clean and oil the gun before it's first use. Is it possible the 115 grain ammo is not strong enough to rack the slide back all the way since the gun is brand new?

I had 1 jam on the winchester out of 100 rounds, had about 10 jams out of 70 rounds of federal ammo ( 2 different boxes).

I also shot 25 rounds of PDX1 hollow point 124g and had zero problems.

I used bot magazines and both jammed on the Federal Ammo. I knew about limp wristing before I went to shoot the gun, so I was holding it firm. any ideas? thanks.

It had been about 20 years since I fired a handgun when I bought my P95 in August. Luckily I had found this forum before I had a chance to shoot it. 2 most important things that I learned were to clean and lube it good and keep your wrist firm when shooting. I have had zero issues with hundreds of rounds of Winchester WB, American Eagle, Remington UMC, and (I think) Federal. My wife on the other hand had about 4-5 jams out of 20 shots fired the first time I took her. It was her grip.

If the P95 is that sensitive to limp wrist im not sure
If i can trust it in a emergency where the perfect grip is not on top of the list.
My friends glock 23 is way more sensitive to limp wristing...if a person cannot practice enough to have correct technique and proper grip on the weapon, they should not be carrying it or using it for self preservation.

Did you field strip, clean and lube the gun before taking it to the range? If the gun was dry or still had some of the crappy factory "lube" on it, it could cause the slide to slow and not complete the cycle.

As mentioned above, this, limp wristing or light ammo can all cause similar failures. All prevent the slide from fully cycling. Also, if you could give a better description of the failures (nose dive, FTF, FTE, etc..) it might help in diagnosing the proplem.

You might also want to check the feed ramp. Is it smooth or can you feel any sharp edges or burrs?
more good thoughts here, too. if you AREN'T limp-wristing and if it's NOT an ammo issue it could be this. i sort of doubt the ammo issue, as my P95 will eat pretty much anything, and lots of others have said the same to me. i'm fairly new to all this, too. just got my P95 about two months ago. another thought just occurred to me that kind of follows along with the limp-wristing notion (and some here may disagree with me).

when i first got mine and took it out to the range, i was using the old-fashioned tea cup and saucer grip. a range officer who is also an nra instructor very kindly offered me some pointers on my grip-- how to really snug my right hand around the grip, and wrap my left around the other side. definitely helped, both in accuracy and stability, and pretty much eliminated the tendency to limp-wrist.

So I finally took the time and gave it a good cleaning. I was REALLY suprised how much nasty sticky crap came from such a small place. Since coming from the factory it's only had 50 rounds. Any ways... I took my time and made sure I got as much crap out as could the followed with a light oil.

Has anyone tired a boresnake? A customer standing (also buying some cleaning stuff) made the suggestion. Yes I'm a new owner but damn it made a difference and is super easy.

Hi Brian
First welcome to the forum. I have bore snakes for all the calibers I shoot. I find them great for a qwick clen. I don't think it will do as good as the rod and bronze brush. But I still won't be with out mine. They aslso have cleaner just made for the called bore snake venom. plus when it gets dirty it can be washed. Others don't care them but as said I love mine. They're always in my range bag. Also those guns come out full of oil. I always clean gun a new gun before I shoot it get rid of the excess oil which just lets the gun get gunked up very quickly.

It's been my experience* with handguns that they are packaged from the factory in a preservative grease/oil. Some have more (S&W M&P 22), some have little to none (Glocks). If I don't clean out that gunk, the firearm misbehaves. The second reason for the initial field strip, clean, and lube is to check the firearm for any obvious flaws or defect.

It's been my experience*, inexpensive 115gr FMJ such as WWB & FC are charged to produce the lowest SAAMI spec that will cycle most firearms. My experience with my P95 mirrored yours. It had issues with inexpensive factory 115gr & my light handloads that cycle through all my other 9mm's. It had no issues with my mid-range charge handloads.

Now that my P95 is broken in at ~500 rounds, it cycles perfectly.

(* a.k.a. personal opinion, not fact. YMMV)

It has been my experience that it takes an intentional light grip to induce failure. I don't need the perfect grip. I need a grip like I would use on a hardy confident handshake.

Yup! Since the firearms manufacturer does not know how long the firearm will sit in a storeroom unsold, it's packed for storage not operation.

WARNING: OPINION AHEAD...

Ballistol. I was very skeptical at the miraculous claims made by Ballistol users, even the esteemed Hickock45 on YouTube. I decided to give Ballistol a try, testing it as the only cleaner & lube for my P95 out of the box.

Ballistol does take a little more dwell time in the bore than a traditional solvent to loosen fouling. Over time, using Ballistol made the P95 easier to clean. I suspect the Ballistol is seasoning the bore as like what happens with a good cast iron skillet.

I like that Ballistol is non-toxic. We firearms enthusiasts already have to worry about lead exposure. Using a non-toxic cleaner alleviates one worry.

It doesn't remove copper fouling, so I still keep copper solvent on hand.

Yes. I use Boresnakes for quick cleans. I use a traditional rod & tips (brush, patch tip, jag) to do a thorough job.

The P95 is one of the most dependable guns made. I know 2 people with them and they have never had a problem.

Clean the heck out of it, lube it, put a little Tetra Gun Grease on the rails and keep shooting.

You have a very good gun... if you do REALLY have a problem Ruger will make it right.

Sorry to hear about your issues with the 95. I've put many thousands of rounds through mine, cheapest range /target ammo I could find. Winchester White Box, Blazer, Summit reloads. Just yesterday I put 200 of Independence, 50 of Tulammo and 150 of Federal Champion and accidentally 15 rounds of Federal Hydra Shok. I have never had an issue of any kind with mine. I'm to the point that to me this pistol is as reliable as the sunrise. :D

Sorry I've been MIA for a while but the fishing has been good!

Any way after a good cleaning and continuing to work on my grip it looks like things are getting better. I ran through 50 and didn't have any jams.
