My great uncle was a USMC range officer These are pre 800,000 took a 220 lb whitetail with the unscoped one before I knew about receiver problems.

Nice. Always liked the Springfield 03s. Years ago I bought a really nice one and at that time surplus ammo was cheap. I must have put between 2000 and 3000 rds through that gun before I found out about the low number receivers. Gave it to my brother for a wall hanger.
