I just bought my Single Ten. I've been wanting one for quite awhile.
Not so easy to find one around here, at least not at the local gun shops, and major suppliers like Davidsons are out of them.

I'm excited, but being as I'm in California I can't actually have my new friend until October 1st. Sure did feel nice in my hand, and then to have to give it back to the clerk to put it in "jail" for 10 days... that was tough.

Oh well... good things come to those who wait.

I can relate with your difficulty in finding the Single Ten as I am one of the ka-billion people in search of the "Holy Grail"...aka SR1911

I'm getting accustomed to playing a waiting game. I had major abdomenal surgery this summer and have been recuperating for two months. I decided to treat myself to a new gun to celebrate my survival and recovery. Eagerly awaiting Monday, Oct 1st and then there will be a range day and photos.

Congrats on your new Single Ten. I have had mine for several months and I love it Walked into a LGS and there were two of them in the case. Being in West Virginia, I brought one of them home with me that day. Those Williams Firesights are nice, especially if you have "old" eyes.

Those sights are one of the main reasons why I wanted the Single Ten. I do indeed have old eyes, and bifocals. Being able to load ten rounds at a time is a big attraction as well.

California requires a 10 day waiting period for handguns, rifles, and shotguns.

The reason it was written into law was to prevent "heat of the moment" crimes. To stop someone who is angry from driving to the gun shop, buying a gun, and immediately using it to kill someone.

Theory is you will cool down long before the 10 days have passed.

Kind of silly locking up my new single action 22 revolver while I have a Springfield XD 40 and a Security Six 357 Magnum at home.

I want one too, it would be a nice addition for my Ruger collection. I bet I would enjoy those Williams sights that is a huge improvement especially for us older shooters. Please post pictures of you enjoying and shooting your new Single Ten.

Well I posted some info on the gun in another thread regarding the pawl.
Apparently Ruger now grinds a radius on the top corner of the pawl.
I had not noticed it until after my first outing so I thought it was wear.
Now I'm convinced it came from the factory that way.

The single ten shoots flawlessly with the right ammunition.
Remington Golden bullets are junk and jammed up the gun on my first outing.
Federal Champion bulk ammo works great and the second outing went extremely well

The limiting factor on accuracy will always be my 64 year old eyes.
Those fiber-optic sights work well in sunlight, but at the range I use, the shooting tables are under a large canopy.
There isn't enough ambient light to cause the sights to glow, so they just function as regular sights.

I must say I really like the Single Ten, and best of all is the inexpensive cost to go shooting for hours.
Working on my shooting techniques with this gun is helping me shoot better with my larger caliber guns.
