Reciprocity Agreement Reached Between Arkansas and Louisiana!

Monday, August 06, 2007

Last week, the Arkansas State Police and the Louisiana State Police reached a reciprocity agreement, which provides that each state will recognize the other’s “Right-To-Carry” permits. Permit holders must still comply with the laws that apply in whichever state they are traveling.

Special thanks go out to Arkansas Senator Steve Faris (D), who sponsored Senate Bill 268 this past session to expand Arkansas’ reciprocity law by requiring the state to recognize any permits from states, which in turn, agree to recognize Arkansas permits. Thanks also to Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise (R), sponsor of Louisiana’s RTC reciprocity law in 2004, who pushed for quick movement toward an agreement by the Louisiana State Police once Arkansas’ RTC law was amended.

I'm not from either state of course, but that's good news. Thanks Sheepdog! (By the way, both states are reciprocal with Kansas)
