This is my two Henry 327 levers, one carbine ,one rifle.
Never wanted two never needed two, but chanced into two.
O well figured I'd shoot em side by side and pick a winner.
Well Crickey! Different days, different ammo , no clear cut winner.
So I figured one longer range with a scope and one more plinker with a red dot.
But you know , they both do both tasks well.

We all need a basic ,ironsighted 30-30 levergun . It's just a basic need.
Mine started out as an upscale commemorative. As we know with a few trips afield collectability is gone and they become just another thudy thudy.
Not being a fan of the average commemorative bling, I bought this to swap the nice wood onto another Winchester I had. But it grew on me.
I mean,,,, who doesn't like a federal eagle and 13 stars? Now it's my 30-30 shooter.

I hated lever guns in general as well as the “thuddy-thuddy” until I was about 30 years old and moved to the Black Hills. Then I realized that the Model 94 was the perfect close range woods and pine forested mountain gun for deer.

I bought a pre 64 (1956) Model 94 for $275 and discovered it would shoot 1.5 MOA with the then just reintroduced Lyman No 2 tang sight.

I now own 3 pre 64 Model 94 carbines dating from 1950 to 1955, all in .30-30:

A 1926 Model 94 26” rifle in .30-30:

A Model 94 Classic 26” rifle in .30-30:

A Big Bore 20” carbine in .375 Win along with a Legendary Frontiersman 24” rifles in .38-55:

A second LF as well as a 26” Uberti 1894 rifle and a 20” Winchester Trails End take down Model 94, all in .38-55:

A pair of Rossi 92 rifles in .357 Mag, a 20” short rifle and a 24” rifle:

An Armi Sport 24” Model 1892 take down rifle in .45 Colt:

A Rossi 92 20” carbine in .45 Colt:

Grade 1 and Grade 2 Browning BL-22 carbines in .22 LR, a 9422 XTR, a 9422 Legacy, and a Marlin 39A:

and a 9422 Trapper:

Dilemma ! I live in an area where there is little need for larger bore thumpin lever actions so how do I justify owning them?????
Well it seems that 35 Rem. and 444 Marlin can be down loaded nicely with cast and affordable .357 and 44 mag pistol bullets. Much cheaper than dedicated jacketed rifle projectiles.
I think of them a .357 and 44mag +P+++++.
They can fill a very interesting "middle ground".

My old Sears J.C Higgins 35 Rem.

WOW! Gotta say, all you boys have some super nice lever guns!! Those OG 94's ain't $275 anymore and wish I could afford one now. Questions for @needmostuff....what are the pro's and con's of the scope vs. the red dot on yours? Also, do you have a hammer extension on the scoped Henry? Lastly, any interest in selling that Eagle 30-30? ;)
