hey guys was swapping a barrel on my kids 10/22 and both of the barrel retaining screws hit the floor and rolled under the workbench into the abyss of lost pins and screws. Any idea on the screw size and length, is this an item that I can just run up to ACE or Ture Value and pick up, hoping to do a little shooting today
just looked on Brownelles ad they are back-ordered
It would be a lot simpler to order a barrel retaining screw from Ruger. I doubt anyone is up for tearing their rifle down to determine what retaining screw Ruger uses. Many screws used on firearms are made in the factory. If you are lucky Ruger will just drop the retaining screw in the mail at no cost to you.
If it turns out to be a standard screw you can get locally, you got very lucky.
Gun manufacturers generally make their screws unique to the gun or at least unique to them. This makes sure the owner uses screws from the gun's manufacturer and thus of known quality/strength.
