I am planning on vacationing in Montana next summer, if we make it through this coming hurricane season unscathe.
I have already contacted the usual sources of public information, but would like to get more intimate information about the "Big Sky" country.
Information about things that the locals know about like good places to eat, where to stay that has reasonable prices, places off the beaten track, on the beaten track or around either track, little or unknown places thet tourists don't frequent.
Any information, be it large or little will be most apprecaited.

Ain't sure yet if we take Amtrack it'll be somewhere in the northen part of the state, if we drive it'll be in the southern part.
As of now I'm mostly interested in the area between Big Timber and Butte and south to Sheridan. But that could change.

Amtrak has got but one route thru Montana, and that is the Empire Builder Route. I have ridden this once and quite please with my ride from Whitefish, Mt to Chicago, Ill and then down to Mt Vernon, Ill.

Between Big Timber and Butte, Mt there is much to do.

If you take the train to Whitefish and rent a car be sure to see Glacier National Park.
