I have a lease in the tx hill country in travis county.both deer were shot with my steyr in 7X64.
first a 8 pt and the 2nd a cull buc.they asked us to use our 2nd tag to thin these guys out.

I'd come after all them cleanup bucks I could haul-venison's better than ice cream! Fine looking rifle!!!! Not familiar with the caliber but it seems to do the job!! Good hunting.......
the 7X64 brenneke is kind of like a 280 rem.the norma ammo I was using data on the box says 2850 fps with a 175 gr bullet.the truth is way to much for the texas white tail deer.both shot were under 70 yards.
Seemed to send them on their way to their 70 does in the sky quite well.....true you don't get many long shots in Tx...betcha it'd do 400 yds. easy.....
