I just thought I'd share my GP with you guys. Its a 4" model with fixed sights and the smaller factory grips. SN puts it being built in 1990. I like this GP more than I liked my old S&W 686 I used to have! Here's a pic:

I own both; a 4" GP100, and its stable mate is a 4" S&W 686. Love 'em both equally. The two finest DA revolvers in the world for a couple decades. I really don't favor one over the other.

Thanks for the comments guys!

@3482jl: I'm pretty sure I like the Ruger more only because of sights and grip. The 686 I had also had a 4" barrel but it had gigantic Houge grips on it and the adjustable sights. I learned from that revolver that I enjoyed fixed sights a lot more and that I just don't have that big of hands. I'd still like to have another 686 one day, but for now I'm perfectly content with this being the only .357 I own.

@AmbroseLee: Right now I do not carry this concealed mainly because I do not have a decent (read: concealable) holster for it at this time. I hope to change that down the line but right now it is not a priority. When I do carry it, it generally rides in a cheap Uncle Mike's OWB holster. I usually only do this in the woods while hiking/creeking though. When I do get a holster I will carry it.

Joe, that's a real nice GP and is one you don't see very often. I never cared much for the bulkier 4" full lug GP's-but, your fixed sight full lug GP is slimmer, better looking, and about 4 ounces lighter. It's a keeper in my opinion.

Interesting. I never knew that such an animal existed! A 4" GP with fixed sights? Very cool!

In fact when you look on the Ruger web site, it is not listed. Perhaps it's a discontinued model?

Good find - Enjoy! :D

I'm just as happy with my new 3" fixed sighted GP100 (4" no longer being made in a fixed sight model). The one they do offer has the top strap milled for a thin rear blade for wind-age. (not my cup of tea, thus the 3"). Your's is another gun NEVER to sell since they're no longer being made. Smithy.
