Hi all,

I picked up a new 10/22 Carbine from Walmart. I only planned to check out their selection of firearms as no Walmart near me carries any. As I was letting my girlfriend know that I was leaving, she decided to come along. Well, at the store we held a few of the .22 rifles they had. She loved the 10/22 so much she wanted to put two on Layaway. Luckly, they only had one in stock so, I got to take it home.

Also, I had her hold a Bushmaster AR15. She liked the feel of it so much, she stated she was getting it for me on my birthday.

Back to the 10/22, we took it to the range to and put 150 to 200 rounds through it. We only had a single fail to fire, I believe it was due to a faulty rounds as there was a dent where the firing pin struck the rim.

I have to give this little rifle a 10 out of 10. I can't wait to start to personalize it and truly make it mine.

I find my 44 mag carbine in my Wife's gun locker now, and one of the four 10-22's is in there also.

congrats! i just started shooting this past summer, and a 10/22 carbine from walmart was my first purchase. i have and always will have a soft spot for that little gun, partly because it was my first, but partly just because it's so darn good at what it does, especially for the price! and the ammo's so cheap, too! you can spend an entire afternoon plinking away to your heart's content for less than the price of a movie. how many guns can you say that about?

Buffer is nice but it doesn't affect the way the firearm functions....Do something with that trigger group.....then maybe either swap out the barrel or get someone like Que to rework it a bit.....

I love my 10/22 like I love my Jeep Wrangler. Over time you can choose options that make each distinctly yours. Take your time, study options before you act. It's a great game.

Bolt Buffer-Quiets down bolt when it slams back into the receiver and less wear on bolt.

Auto Bolt Release-Stock bolt release takes a bit to get it to release when locked while auto bolt release you just cock the bolt back to release.

Trigger Group-Will improve accuracy and less stress on your wrist and finger.

Very true! I have enjoyed mine bone stock other than a scope for a lot of years. Since hanging around here I have a desire for a trigger job.

They're like a small block Chevy engine... lots of choices from the factory, will work practically forever, and you can make them as mild or wild as you please!

Chances are if you put the round that didn't fire back in and pull the trigger again it probably will fire. Such is 22 LR ammo. But glad to hear you like it. They are a lot of fun. You can even shoot in club matches even if you don't belong to a club. I just shot in a Rimfire Steel Challenge match this weekend. Some people use stock 10/22 and some fix them up with goodys. Have fun.
