Hey everyone. This is my first AR so I've been doing a lot of reading and studying on Ar's and modifications(can't leave it stock lol). I've ordered a few things such as a new handguard for lower rail attachments, trigger springs, and adjustment screw from bob, gonna polish as well. Is anything else y'all would recommend? Thanks for any info. I can't wait for the 25th.!!!

Hey East Texan, Welcome to the forum you'll pick up a lot of great information here and read a lot of almost good stuff.

I recently took ownership of a Ruger AR556 because it's lighter than my SR556 I wanted something for a grab and go. Mine, oddly, came with a target barrel. Out of the box, after clean up, it was a tack driver with the iron sights.

My advice would be to take it out and run a couple of hundred rounds through it before you dress it up and learn how it works with the iron sights.

The only add on I'm putting on is the Nikon P-223 1.5-4 scope.

Just a thought. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. I agree shoot it stock and find out what you like about it and what you want to modify. You might be surprised.

Thanks, and I plan on taking my time for sure. I plan on picking up a Vortex 4-12X44 today, and some more rounds(variety). I will go with iron sights first, then scope, and last offset/45 reflex or iron sights.I still haven't made up my mind if I'm going with the scope for sure lol. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Welcome. No need to get in a big rush. You'll have a box full of extra parts and accessories on your work bench soon enough. :D

Welcome from Utah, "your going to shoot your eye out". I put a scope on mine just because I am old and so are my eyes.

The only thing I did to mine was change the hand guard and add a red dot. The new hand guard is more ergonomic and I was surprised at how much I like the red dot with my old eyes.

Hey, you're going to love that rifle. The Ruger AR556 is an amazing rifle and a great investment. I too recently just purchased one of these and would like to cosign with the majority of the community. Take her out a few times, invest in a few extra mags (I picked up some extended clips & really considering picking up a 100 round drum) and just fire off some rounds. As time goes on you'll be able to decide on exactly what you want to modify.

Might i also suggest the Ruger AR 556 gun porn thread, lots of ideas in there.
