just got my 51/2 inch REDHAWK friday. shot about 50 rounds of assorted 180.240 and 300 grain handloads. not on paper so no groups but I had no trouble hitting clay pigeons at 25 yards . By the way it is a .44 mag

You guys shooting those .44mag SuperRedhawks are animals. I couldn't take the straighter recoil, and switched over to a S.Blackhawk instead. The Redhawks are gorgeous, I just couldn't take the abuse.

I also have a 71/2 superblackhawk.I love it too but I find the redhawk easier to handle in recoil. In any event my favorite loads usually fall around 1000-1200 fps. That makes either of them much more pleasant after 50 rounds.

I'll agree with using softer loads. It just seems that letting the SB recoil up, instead of the "spur" on the Redhawk coming straight into my wrist, makes the SuperBlackhawk feel better in my hands.
