Hi everyone. Getting crazy out there! Was planning on semi auto route for home defense but gf couldn't chamber a round quickly or effectively. So easily got talked into revolvers! Cooler anyway.
With tips from this site (and reassurance that my gf could very easily fire a 38spl in it) and after feeling it in my hands, ordered a Stainless 4" gp100 357. Ships in 3-7 days :(
Kind of a noob at ammo but this is what I got for the first go round;

1 box Hornady critical defense 357 mag

1 box 357 mag 158 grain jacketed hollow point (why not!)

1 box Hornady 38spl +P critical defense

150 rounds of federal 38spl 130 grain for range.....

Whatcha think?

Any tips or links for cleaning, safety, hand position etc would be great!

The owner of a local range has one personally so I will be picking it up there and hopefully he will make some time to help us out. He wanted $690 for the gun alone, I bought gun with lifetime warranty, all the rounds listed, cleaning kit, and a speedloader for about $70 more online. So I'm pretty happy. Although my budget was $300 for a semi auto haha. But this gun is soo sexy.

Shot before but never a revolver. We have 3 dogs and one is a vicious sounding pitbull (but would probably back away from intruder, which is fine by me!) so I'm hoping to never actually have to use it in self defense.

My vicious pitbull lol

Well above my initial budget but it won't be something I'll get bored with or regret later. Probably an all my life gun! Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome! My first handgun was a 4" GP100 as well. That was back around 1991 or so. Still have it, it's as good as new and the trigger is even better than when I bought it!
